Anton Kleis was born 1755 April 6. in Wiesbach near Homburg/Pfalz, Germany. He was the son of Johann (Hans) Nikolaus Kleis/ or originally spelled, Johann (Hanss) Nigel/Nikel Kleis and his wife Anna Katharina Dietz. Anton married in Wiesbach 1777 Nov. 24. to Anna Eva Wehn born 1754 Febr. 4.

His son Jacob married in Homburg/Pfalz 1824 Jan. 26. to Catharina Kessler.

Anton had in Wiesbach at least two brothers, Johann Adam (7 children) and Johann Nikolaus (9 children). Johann Nikolaus was teacher in Wiesbach.
