Audrey E. Hendershott (nee Kraft), age 85, of Portage, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2009 at the Horton VNA Hospice in Valparaiso. Audrey was born October 23, 1923 in Portage and was a lifelong Portage resident. She had been a member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church where she taught CCD for approximately 15 years. She was also a member of the Ladies Sodality at Church. Audrey is survived by six children: Joan Hendershott-Mesarch of Portage, Rev. Jerry (Marjorie) Hendershot of Portage, Tim (Barbara) Hendershott of South Haven, Susan K. (John) Crabtree of South Haven, Tom Hendershott of Portage and Mary (Charles) Taylor of Portage; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Hendershott; father, Edward Kraft; mother, Thelma Chester; and brother, Ronald Chester. Funeral services which will be held Thursday, January 15, 2009 are incomplete. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage.
