WIDOW OF SHERMAN ATTORNEY DIES

Funeral services for Mrs. Hamp P. Abney of Houston, Texas will be held at 2 p.m. in Hopkins Chapel First Methodist Church.

Mrs. Abney was the wife of the late Hamp P. Abney, a prominent, attorney for many years in Sherman. She died at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, in Houston, where she has made her home since leaving Sherman nine years ago.

Dr. Edward R. Barcus, pastor of Austin Avenue Methodist Church of Waco, Texas, formerly of Sherman will conduct the services, assisted by Rev. J. Daniel Barron, pastor of First Methodist Church. Entombment will be in the Sherman West Hill Cemetery Mausoleum, directed by John C. Dannel Funeral Home.

Mrs. Abney was honored on her 90th birthday by members of the Ladies in Lavender of St. Luke's Methodist Church in Houston. She would have been 93 years old on Oct 17.

She was the former Miss Jeannette Marshall, daughter of W.H. and Martha Bolton Marshall of Jacksonville. She was educated at Southwestern University, Georgetown, and Kidd-Key College in Sherman.

She was a member of the Methodist Church, the College Hill Club, the Bomar Cramer Music Club and the Kidd-Key College Alumnae Association.

Survivors include: Two daughters, Mrs. Ike P. Robinson, Wimberly, Texas, and Mrs. William S. Bradley Houston; five grandchildren; 10 great-grand-children; a sister Mrs. A. B. Martin of Amarillo; a brother, R. Bart Marshall, of Dallas, formerly of Sherman, and a number of nieces and nephews. A son, Hampton P. Abney, Jr., died number of years ago.
