ALTO - Funeral service for Verna Lee Arnold, 91, of Alto, will be Wednesday, December 24, at 11 a.m. at the Old Palestine Baptist Church with Bro. Odis Bryan officiating. Burial will be held in the Old Palestine Cemetery under the direction of O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home, Alto.

Mrs. Arnold died Monday, December 22, 2008, in Alto.

She was born October 26, 1917, in Reklaw, Texas, to Homer and Leola Thrash Townley. She lived in Alto all her life and was a member of the Old Palestine Baptist Church. She loved China painting and was retired from the State of Texas after 20 years of social work. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Jimmy Allen and Vaughn Arnold; brother, Cecil Townley; and sister, Juanita Ransome.

Survivors include brother and sister-in-law, Marshall and Dora Townley, Alto; sister-in-law Johnnie Townley, Garland; stepson and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Mary Arnold, Missouri City; stepdaughters and sons-in-law, June and Carroll Jones, Tyler, and Scharla and Don Carver, Alto; nieces and nephews, Kenneth Townley, Donna Townley, Jimmy Townley, Cecil Allen Townley, Karen and Norris Kent, Janet and Dennis Geddie, and Susan and Terry Barrow; numerous stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 23, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Alto.
