Nancy Jane DANIELS was born Abt 1792 in Wilkes County,North Carolina. She married John about 1814.
John and Nancy Winters lived in Burke County with their young children until about 1828 when they moved their family to Carter County, TN. We believe that the Winters had 9 children with birthdays between 1815 to 1833.
They lived and raised their family in the Roan Mountain area of Carter County and were found in the 1850 Carter County census with two grandchildren living with them.
1850 is the last record we have of Nancy Daniels Winters and we believe she died and was buried in Carter County sometime between 1850 and 1860. Family oral information report she is buried at the Richardson Cemetery on Morgan Branch to the left of where her son William is buried.
In the 1860 Carter County Census, John was living with a young Nancy who was in her mid-thirties and John would have been in his mid-sixties. We believe that this is his second wife because we found a marriage certificate for John Winters who married a Nancy Crusman on October 26, 1857.
After the Civil War, John and Nancy moved to Caldwell County, NC. They are found in the 1870 Census there. John died sometime between 1870 and 1880 and was buried at his home place. After John died, Nancy C. Winters collected his military pension for his service in the war of 1812.
