Mother Bessie Mae accepted Christ at an early age and she was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church. She moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1955 and became a member of Open Door Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Hines. She later joined Second Saint John Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Elder W. E. Stanley in 1974 where she was a faithful member, serving on the Mother's Board under the current leadership of Rev. John Jackson, Sr., until her health would not allow her to do so.
