Burial register from exhumation states General Cooper's Division, IND; shot by guerrillas.

Served in Co. D, 130th Indiana Infantry Regiment; one of 21 men captured by guerrillas near Piney River, Hickman County, TN. Escaping, he took refuge in the home of Lawson H. Nunnelly at Vernon, but was driven from the house by the guerrillas and shot. Originally buried in the Frazier Cemetery (also known as the Joseph Webb Cemetery) on the west side of Piney River.
