Katie was the daughter of Frank Ignatious Surma and Katherine Marie Sorenson.

She had eight siblings: Anne, Zinia Victoria, Emma Louise, Emil Joseph, Roman Henry, Johannah Marie, Charlotte Frances, Frank, and Katie Marie.

Katie M. Hatch, 72, Bemidji, died Saturday, September 18 at St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Clover Chapel in Rural Clearbrook with the Rev. Vern Wiggle officiating. Interment was made at the Clover Cemetery.
Mrs. Hatch was born January 15, 1910 and was the former Katie Surma. She married Donald Hatch November 12, 1952 in Pinewood. She spent most of her life in the Leonard area with the couple moving to Bemidji about two years ago.
She is survived by her husband; a sister, Charlotte (Mrs. Ray) Ambuehl of Clearbrook; a brother, Emil Surma of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; several nieces and nephews.
