********************************************
I found this note in Johns things; Sometimes I can sit in a room full of people and still feel all alone.I suppose this feeling comes from within, from past experiences and upbringing.Who Knows-maybe I am facing some silly midlife crisis.Sometimes I really do wish I was more outgoing, but I have pretty much given up on ever being more sociable.Live life the best that I can-I guess thats all I can do and maybe one day this feeling will go away.
Decisions we make now will have eternal consequuences.John
*********************************************
John Jacob Bass was born in South Carolina.HE was the son of the late Mary Bass Leopard Cannon and Amos Norton Leopard.
John was addopted by our GrandParents when John was four.
John Henry and Maude Robinson Bass of Greer,SC.John also has two children that I have just learned of. I am not sure of thier names or location yet.I am working on finding them.
John had three sisters; REBECCA BASS HORNER location unknown.Karen Wood of Ga. and me, my name is Lorrain I live in SC.John was born Sept.28,1950 in Spartanburg County S.C. and he died Dec.19,2007 in Fountain Colorado. We had a
very hard childhood our Mother had a mental condition that
took it's toll on her and her children.John and becki were
older and they had taken all they could,so they left.I am sure they were afraid to stay in touch with my sister and me.Our Mother had such a hold on us,I guess they thought we would tell her where they were.We have been trying to find them for over thirty years.John was a very quiet man.He had a good heart, but his way of dealing with things that bothered him was to close down and pull away.I have just
started using the computer, somehow I stumbled onto the
findagrave site and thats how I found John.We confirmed that he was our John. This was not how I had dreamed our
reunion would be.Some day our family will have a great
and glorious reunion when we see our Lord. Then every tear
will be wiped away. There will be no more pain or sickness of any kind.John was very much loved,we will continue to miss him.At least we have some answers. Our Mother passed away oct.3,2005.We will see them when we go home.
During all the long years of searching for John,my daughters had paid for several types of search's for both
John and Becki.Back in 1999 a woman had posted a note that
read"Looking for family of John Bass,he has been in an
accident".We thought this is him,but the woman would never
answer back.We made hundreds of calls to no avail. No one
would give us a clue beyond, the post.My heart was broken
so many times and I knew John would not come home on his
on.By the way John J Bass is a very common name.I did not
think it would be.I only became interested in the computer
a few months ago,I had always thought if it is so great,
why can it not FIND my brother.I started out learning to
type and then mastering the incredible mouse.I had been
collecting info.on our family for years.I decided to try
a little genealogy and somehow I found myself on
findagrave.I called my daughter to show her the site.I had
to leave the room for a minute, when I came back she was
trying to close it out.I knew right then that she had found one or both of them. She kept pushing me away from the
screen,I knew and I told her that I did so there it was.
John Jacob Bass U.S.Navy,the birthday was 4 days and one
year off,I knew it was him though, as soon as I saw the
marker any doubt if any left.John always loved animal's
especially cats,he even took in skunks, opossums whatever.
My daughter started emailing Adrena's daughter back and
forth. We got leads here and there. In a couple of days the
phone rang, it was the pastor from the church. He pretty
much confimed it,he said that John had been comming to his
church with an older lady named Emma and that he would have
her call us.Everytime the phone rang my heart would drop to
the bottom of my stomach. In about 2 hours Emma called. She
was an 83 year old Lady with cancer, she told us that the
John she knew was from S.C.and that he had a sister there.
She said that she had met John and took him under her wing
"talk about an angel"she went on to say that he had been in a fire in 1999 and was burned over 70% of his body. She told
us that the only part that was not burned was his sweet and
unforgetable face.We talked for a while and she ask me if I
would like to have his things. She said he did not have alot
of material things but that he had gave his life to JESUS,
no one will ever know how much that means to me.She sent
a few papers and his U.S.Flag.I now know that John had been
married a couple of times but I dont know any names.Emma
said that he has a son and a daughter all I know is his
SONS NAME IS JOHN BASS and that he does constuction in
maybe DENVER COLORADO.His daughters NAME is WENDY and that
her mother died while giving birth,Emma said that she believes that she is a SOCIAL WORKER IN NEW YORK.John had
lived in GRANDISLE LA. and a few other places in LA.HE was
living in FOUNTAIN COLORADO when he died.I would LOVE to
find his children and my oldest siter BECKI.Hopefuly I
will know more soon.John was a very kind and loving man.
He was on overload before he ever left home.If anyone knows any info.PLEASE CONTACT ME BY EMAIL .Thank you all so very
much.GOD BLESS YOU.
