David Owen Belew was born October 14, 1885 in Franklin County, Tenn to James Franklin Belew and Alice Eudora Whitten. He married the former Mazie Erskine ; David Owen Sr. made his living as attorney and his wife, Mazie, was a teacher in the public schools. He died in 1964 in Ft Worth, Texas. His parents are buried in Midlothian Cemetery along with his maternal grandmother, Malinda Ann Faires Whitten.
