Gordon W. Barry, 66, who had been employed in newspaper advertising for many years, died unexpectedy Sunday. Since retiring in January 1960, Mr. Barry and his wife had lived at the home of her mother, Mrs. J. Hart Kinsey, 75 Park Ave. A native of Canandaigua, he was born July 9, 1895, the son of the late Edward J. and Elizabeth McIntyre Barry. He was a graduate of Canandaigua Academy. He began his newpaper career with the Daily Messenger and later went to Mt. Vernon. He had been employed for many years in advertising sales on the Daily Argus and the Pelham Sun. He served with the U.S. Army at the Mexican Border and was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of Canandaigua Post American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruth Kinsey Barry, whom he married June 30, 1923; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Kirkmire of Rochester; two brothers, Fred of Rochester and Elmer Barry of Marietta, GA; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call today and Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the McElwee Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass in St. Mary's Church.
