"Ira Smith, 81, died at 5:30 o'clock this morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Everett Goens, 2817 South K. Street. He was born in Indiana May 21, 1869. He married Miss Mary Bright. She died in 1935. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Delcie Wardwell, Alexandria; Mrs. Martha Jones, Winchester; Mrs Irvin Simms, Sulphur Springs; and Mrs. Goens of Elwood: six sons, Jasper of Kokomo, Everett of Indianapolis, Clarence of Elkhart, and Wayne and John Smith of Elwood; a sister, Mrs. Lydia Anderson, Indianapolis; and 53 grandchildren. The body will be returned to the Goens home today from the Robert L. Jackley funeral home.
Funeral rites will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the South Side Tabernacle with Rev. Wesley Delk officiating. Burial will be made in the Elwood City cemetery."
