He was a decorated Korean War Veteran who retired after 24 years of service. He then worked and retired from civil service. After his retirement he became a volunteer at Wilford Hall Medical Center for over 16 years. Over the years he won many awards for his artistic talent and received the Presidential award for his tireless effort of volunteering. He was a life member of DAV Chapter 5.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marie Rose Anderson and his son Gerald Charles Anderson. He is survived by his brothers Leo and Charles Anderson, daughter Ulanda Johns, and son Gregg D. Anderson. He leaves behind his grandson Christopher Anderson, his wife Tina and their 3 children Aaron, Alexis, and Alex, his grandson Michael Shannon Cantrell and his daughter Kareena, his granddaughter Brandie and husband Carlos Carreon, children, Alexis, Nathaniel, Nina, Christian, and Jr. and his granddaughter Alecia Quandt and children Angelina and Analiese.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 5:00 pm at Mission Burial Park South.
