John Crawford Faircloth, affectionately known as Toby, of Cordele, passed away Monday, October 6, 2008 at Archbold Hospital in Thomasville. Mr. Faircloth was the son of the late John E. and Ella Faircloth. He served in the United States Navy and earned military accolades. He retired from Harris Press and Shear in 1991. An avid boater and golfer, Mr. Faircloth was an honorary member of the Flint River Boat Club, the Cordele Lions Club, and the Bagdad Club. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he was a man of strong faith and wisdom. Mr. Faircloth is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn Faircloth; two daughters, Kathy Faircloth Allen and husband M.H. Allen of Thomasville, and Kristy Faircloth Allen and husband Keith Allen of Moultrie; and four grandchildren, Abbey, Megan, Bradley and Brent. He is also survived by one sister, Verna Maddox, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Buford Faircloth, Luther Faircloth, Tommy Faircloth, and Travis Faircloth, and sisters, Ruby Ward and Janie Saunders. Graveside services will be Thursday, October 9, at 11:00 a.m. at Sunnyside Cemetery.
