Mina A. Fairchild was born February 6, 1896 at Barrett, Kansas, daughter of E. R. and Mary (Picket) Fairchild. She was one of twelve children, five boys and seven girls. She died at the Decairo Hospital, Westmoreland, Kansas, February 15, 1980 after an extended illness.

She was married to Owen Thomas Jones, March 29, 1917 at Frankfort, Kansas. He survives.

Other survivors include one daughter-in-law Lucille Jones Burgess of Wamego, Kansas; a granson, Duane Jones, R.R. Westmoreland, Kansas; two step-grand-daughters, Barbara Hoover and Karen Meek of Wamego; five great grandchildren
four step-great-grandchildren; one brother Richard Fairchild, of the Frankfort Care Home.

To this union four children were born; Lorena Mary, January 31, 1918, died January 31,1918 Marjorie Glendine, February 6, 1920, died June 30, 1935; Thurman Duane, February 16,1924 died August 4, 1960; and Betty Ann July 31, 1925, died December 12, 1927.

One grandson, Ronald D. Michels born February 4, 1947 preceded her in death. He was killed in a commercial accident at Balderson, Inc. Wamego, Kansas on June 21, 1974.

She was also preceded in death by four Brothers, Leroy, Earl, John and one in infancy; six sisters, Blanch Wagor, June Lucas, Sadie Kenworthy, Zella Carpenter, Annie Fairchild, and Melissa Carpenter.

Mina was a member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, EHU and White Eagle S. and S. Club.

Services were held February 18, 1980 at the Methodist Church at Westmoreland with burial at Barrett Cemetery, southwest of Frankfort, Kansas.
