Harold Duane Hamblin. 87, died Sept. 12, 2008, in Vernal.

He was born Sept. 4, 1921, in Panguitch to William and Florence B. Willden Hamblin.

He grew up in Farmington and Kaysville and graduated from Davis High School. He served in the armed forces during WWII in Iceland.

He married Helen J. Russell on Dec. 31, 1945. She died Aug. 4, 1956 in Kaysville. He married Leatrice J. Scott on March 14, 1958, in the Salt Lake Temple.

He was active in the LDS church and served as a coach for many ball teams for the church for 25 years and was loved and respected by all. He served many hours at the Vernal LDS Temple. He was retired from Hillfield and Davis School District.

He is survived by his wife, Leatrice; children, Richard H. Hamblin (Dawn), Morgan, Carla J. Bozzelli, Layton, Dean R. Hamblin (Jeanne), Clinton, Judy E. Giles (Brad) Layton, Caleen A. Reese (Joe), Vernal, Marie D. Smith (Billie), Vernal; 20 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at the Uintah Stake Center, 4080 S. 2500 E. Friends and family may call from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. Interment will take place at the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
