Samuel Firestone, of Co. B, enrolled Aug. 20, 1861 in Pierceton by Capt. John Murray as a Private; mustered in Sep. 25, 1861 in Ft. Wayne by Maj. Carpenter at age 24. He was 5 10 tall, dark complexion, grey eyes, and black hair. Born in Kosciusko Co., IN, employed as a nutter, single, resident of Pierceton, in Kosciusko Co., IN. Died of wounds Nov. 11, 1863 in Stevenson, AL with rank of Corporal. Notes: Son of Samuel and Elizabeth Firestone. Fought at Donelson, at Shiloh where he was praised by Col. Reed, Stone River and Chickamauga. Promoted Corporal Apr. 10, 1862. Wounded in left leg Sep. 20, 1863, at Chickamauga and died in hospital from effects of wounds. May have died Nov. 11, 1863.
