A.N. ROGNSTAD, INSURANCE MAN 40 YEARS, DEAD -- Arthur N. Rognstad, 74, 1033 9th St., died at Tri-State Memorial Hospital yesterday at 3:45 p.m. He had been there since suffering a heart attack 22 days earlier. He had been in the insurance business here for 40 years, but he probably was better known outside the valley for his numerous color movies about this area. He was born March 8, 1889, in Lamberton, Minn. The family moved to Kendrick in 1902, then to Montana seven years later to homestead. He attended Bethania College at Everett, Wash. two years and then came to Clarkston. He was married to Vera Pearson in 1917 at Pomeroy. She died in 1940, and he married Louzena Hitz at Coeur d'Alene. She survives at the family home. He had operated the Clarkston Insurance Agency since taking it over from his father in 1923. His brother, Louie T. Rognstad, had been in the business there until his death last spring. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, A. Vernon Rognstad, Lewiston; a daughter, Mrs. Steve (Doris) Goodnow, Clarkston; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Mildred Frederickson, Clarkston; two brothers, Clarence Rognstad, Bend, Ore., and Joseph Rognstad, Los Angeles; four sisters, Mrs. Gunda Fite, Mrs. Ingvald Ass and Mrs. Clarence Swanbeck, all of Clarkston, and Mrs. Ella Zielinski, Los Angeles, and six grandchildren. The funeral will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Merchant Chapel, with burial at Vineland Cemetery.
