A celebration of life service for Patricia L. "Pat" Floyd of McMinnville will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, in the chapel of Macy & Son Funeral Directors. The Rev. Jeff Clabaugh will officiate. Interment will be conducted at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in McMinnville.
Mrs. Floyd died at home on Monday, July 14, 2008. She was 83.
Born in Shoshone, Idaho, on May 17, 1925, she was the daughter of Delbert and Flossie (Mason) Gehrig.
After graduating from high school, she spent two years working for the Idaho Power Company to earn money for college. She came to McMinnville and enrolled at Linfield College to study accounting.
She married Ross Floyd, a naval aviator, on May 2, 1946, in Shoshone. The couple lived at various points along the East Coast while he was in the service.
After a brief time in McMinnville, they moved to Pullman, Wash., in 1965. She helped catalogue government documents and acquisitions for the Washington State University Library and worked on installation of the library's first computer system.
She moved to Lewiston, Idaho, in 1971, but continued to work at the library in Pullman until her retirement in 1990. She relocated to McMinnville in 1999.
She enjoyed reading, camping, fly fishing, solving puzzles, listening to music and playing the drums. She also loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Floyd is survived by three daughters, Maxine Menkel of McMinnville, Christine Crowell of Seattle and Gale Hairston of Greensboro, N.C.; two sisters, Norma Morrison of Heyburn, Idaho, and Joan Dedrick of Huntsville, Ala.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Floyd.
