Carl O. Brown, 89, of Winchester, died Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Scott County Nursing Center in Winchester. He was born Oct. 15, 1918, in Winchester, the son Arthur and Lillie Owen Brown. He married Louise Neff, in Winchester on Nov. 18, 1947, and she survives.

He is also survived by five children, Patty (husband, Paul) Skipper of Chillicothe, Mo., Ed (wife, Mary Lois) Brown of Clinton, Vonnie Brown of Chillicothe, Mo., Vickie (husband, Bob) Walkington of Carrollton and Terry (wife, Marta) Brown of Winchester; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six brothers and sisters, Margaret Wynn of Norman, Okla., Eileen Boes of Chehalis, Wash., Earl Brown of Latham, Tom Brown of Lansing, Mich., Cecil (husband, Carl) Hoots of Winchester and Glenn Brown of Elmhurst, Pa. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters, Nick Brown, Mabel Neece, Madelyn Brown and Ralph Brown.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was baptized in the Utica Baptist Church in Utica, Mo., and was a member of the Winchester American Legion Post 442. He worked for the Big Swan Drainage District and retired after 10 years and he was a self-employed mechanic.

Services were entrusted to Mackey Daws Funeral Home in Winchester, Illinois.
