Mrs. Martha M. Brown Dead
An Estimable Christian Lady Passes Away Sunday

Mrs. Martha M. Brown died at her home on Second avenue, just below Ninth street, at 6:45 o'clock Sunday morning, after an illness of about eleven weeks. The deceased was about 53 years of age, and was a consistent member of St. Luke church. She was born in Randolph county, but had been a resident of Columbus for the past twenty-five years, where she was held in the highest esteem by every one who knew her. Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband, Mr. James H. Brown, two children, three sisters and four brothers. Her children are Mr. Watt Brown, of this city, and Mrs. L. M. Burrus, of Augusta. Her brothers are Messrs. M. A. Doughtie, of this city; James N. Doughtie, of Texas; T. C. Doughtie, of Eufaula, and Eugene Doughtie, of Americus. Her sisters are Mrs. W. L. Bass, of Sedalla, Mo., Mrs. F. J. Dehonie, of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. J. W. Christine, of Montgomery, Ala., all of whom have the sympathies of the entire community in the hour of their sad loss.

The funeral took place from the family residence at 2:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Rev. A. M. Wynn conducting the services in a very able and impressive manner. The interment was in Linwood cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs. R. W. Ledsinger, Geo. N. Hartman, Ed Burrus, W. R. Moore, R. R. Thweatt, L. A. Scarbrough, D. A. Andrews.
