~MY PARKER FAMILY~
The son of my ancestors, WILLIAM and MARGARET (PRITCHARD) PARKER, he married Mary Buckingham on Dec. 24, 1666.
According to the records of the Colony of Conn., In Oct, 1690, the court granted John Parker ten pounds to keep charge of the "forte at Saybrooke until the last of May next". In April of that year, the court allowed Mr. Chapman & John Parker of Saybrook to choose three guns when they have a fort ready at New London and that they may be kept until the war is over.
May, 1691, John Parker is reimbursed five pounds, eight shillings for powder used at the Saybrook fort.
Oct., 1692 John Parker, Sr. was part of a committee appointed to survey and straighten the road from Saybrook to Kenilworth.
Oct., 1698 The Court grants to Mr. John Parker of Saybrook, the sum of 15 pounds for being Lieut. of the fort at Saybrook. He was deputy to the Court for Saybrook that year and in 1700.
Oct., 1699 He as part of a committee were chosen to assess James Wright of Saybrook who failed to bring in his taxables.
Oct., 1700 Mr. John Parker & Lieut. John Clerke to have the care & oversight of the repair of the fort at Saybrook.
Oct, 1700 John Parker, "attorney for the town of Saybrook" is paid eleven shillings in pay and four shillings in cash for attendance of the Assembly at Hartford. Again in 1701, he is reimbursed one pound, six shillings, as an agent for Saybrook to Hartford.
