~MY ANCESTOR~
As a young man, William Parker probably immigrated from England in the 1630's. In 1640, he owned land in Hartford, and he is listed as a Founder of Hartford on the Monument at the Old Center Church Graveyard (see picture at right). His homelot in 1639 was on the west side of the road from Seth Grant's to the Centinel Hill (later Trumbull St.)
He married Margaret Pritchard , daughter of Robert Pritchard, at Hartford, Conn. prior to 1637. Most of their know children were born in Hartford.
They removed to Saybrook, Conn. sometime before May 17, 1660, where William Parker is found in the early records in a court case against William Waller in which Parker's mare & foal were lost in the woods.
On Oct. 11, 1669, William Parker, Sr. was propounded a freeman from Saybrook.
Between 1672 and 1675, he was a representative or deputy at the General Court in Hartford for Saybrook.
In 1672 during a special session, the Court appointed Lieut. William Pratt & Sarg't William Parker to make an account of the ammo & artillery at Saybrook (due to a possible conflict with the Dutch).
In 1673, Sarg't Wm Parker was granted 100 acres of land in Saybrook, Conn., and in Feb. 7, 1678, he received five acres for his service in the Indian Wars.
