Lillian E. Holdiness Zarnicki

May 24, 1918 – June 22, 2008

Lillian Zarnicki passed away on June 22, 2008 at her home in Milano. She was 90 years of age. Funeral services are Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial is in the Milano Cemetery in Milano. Rev. Roy Dillard of the Milano United Methodist Church will officiate. Serving as pallbearers are David Roessler, Sr., David Roessler, Jr. Daniel Roessler, Mark Newman, Doug Pierce, Mike Grohovsky and Jim Lee.

Lillian was born in Milano on May 24, 1929. Her parents were Harvey and Francis (Morgan) Holdiness. She and Chester Zarnicki were married on March 13, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas. She retired after 45 years as a school teacher in Pearland, Texas. Her parents and 5 sisters: Edna Matejowski, Maggie Chaney, Ila Mae Lee, Fannie Pierce and Louise Neal preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Chester Zarnicki of Milano; daughters: Caroline Roessler and husband David of Brazoria and Valerie Taylor of Cedar Park; sister Martha Newman; grandchildren: David Roessler, Jr., Dinah Roessler, Dorie Hammond and husband Troy and Daniel Roessler and wife Dena; great grandchildren: Kurt, Kyle, Max, Ilsa, Rex, Kirsten, Gracie and Sadie.

Lillian received her Bachelor's Degree from Southwest Texas State University. She was a member of Milano United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to Milano United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 107, Milano, Texas 76556.
