A group of lawmen joined forced to investigate an apartment in Joplin Missouri thinking that bootlegging was going on. Unfortunately for the lawmen the residence were not bootlegger but the notrious Bonnie and Clyde gang. The law men arrived in two cars the first drove across the garage driveway to block the suspects in. Harryman was the first to exit the car with gun drawn and was shot as he exited the car. He would die serving his state and justice.
