Mrs. Sparkman Succumbs At 84

45 Great Grandchildren Included In Survivors From Five Generations

Mrs. Martha Sparkman, 84, of 811 Seventh avenue, died at her residence early this morning. Funeral services will be held at church at 2 pm. Sunday, with the Rev. J. Vernon Rich officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hill cemetery, Laughlin-Service directing.

Mrs. Sparkman is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Mary Lue Dupree, Cartersville, Ga., Mrs. Emma Williams, Augusta, Ga., Mrs. F. O. Orr, Cincinnati, and Mrs. Sam McCoy, Huntsville; one son, Ocie Sparkman, Huntsville; two sisters, Mrs. Lou Sparkman, Bone Cave, Tenn. and Mrs. Betty Martin, McMinnville, Tenn; two brothers, Willie Steakley, Bone Cave, Tenn. and J. H. Steakley, Nashville, 24 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers will be M. D. Sparkman, Elmer Sparkman, Homer Sparkman, Orval Sparkman, Jimmy League, Bobby Dupree, Charley Williams and Jesse Hitchcock.

Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Hudson, Gordon Bishop, Ray Heart, Rebon Smith, Forest Edwards and Lonzo Turner.
