OBITUARY

THE CHARITON LEADER
Chariton, Iowa
May 2, 1918

MRS. C.C. FORCE

Nettie Goltry was born near Russell, Iowa, June 11, 1855, and died at her home in Russell, April 26, of pneumonia, at the age of 62 years, 10 months and 15 days. She has spent her entire life in and near Chariton and Russell, excepting two years and a half just after her marriage which she spent in Des Moines. She was married October 14, 1903, to Cal C. Force, in Des Moines.

She united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in her early girlhood and was a faithful and devoted member until her death.

She had been a cripple since she was a girl which has greatly handicapped her in her life work, but in spite of this she has been an active worker in the church, Missionary society and W.C.T.U., having attended a W.C.T.U. convention in Chariton just the day before she was taken sick.

She is survived by her husband, and his son Guy, who is now with the American forces in France. She received a letter from Guy just a few moments before her death and expressed great satisfaction in knowing that he was well. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Emma Homsher, of Chariton, and two brothers, E.L. Goltry, of Red Oak, Iowa, and W.A. Goltry, of Boone, Iowa. Her father died in the service of his country during the Civil War; and her mother preceded her in death just a few years ago.

She has a host of friends who mourn her loss and who will miss her in her accustomed place among them. She was a devoted wife and mother, always thinking of the little things, as she had written in her Bible; "Let us remember the fact that if most of us ever better the world, it will be by doing the little things, for of such is life made up of."

Funeral services were held from the Baptist Church in Russell, Sunday afternoon, conducted by the pastor of the M.E. Church and interment was made in the Russell cemetery.
