Going back to the time the family was living in the Ringold area the family was into ranching. At grandads house one Saturday night they were having a dance as was the costum in that area. Grandad was up on the table in the living room adjusting a lamp when two of the local ruffians started fighting over a pistol, the pistol discharged and grandad was accidentally killed.
