Thank you to all who visit my Great Grandmother. (Dad's mother's mom).

From The Austin Democrat October 26, 1879:

Death of Mrs John J. Furlong After a Long Illness:
The death of Mrs John J Furlong which occurred at 11:15 Saturday morning, brought sorrow to many a heart in the city and in Mower county. Although it was known that death was near at hand and that Mrs Furlong had been within the shadow of the wings of the death angel for many weeks, her death came with a shock. After long suffering of the body she had found rest and her spirit had fled to the great beyond. Known and loved throughout the county her death is greatly mourned. An honest, loving, Christian woman, like Mrs Furlong was, is a loss to the community when she is called home. It will be a heavy loss for her husband and children to bear and the family has the sympathy of all who had ever met her.

Mrs Furlong's maiden name was Agnes B Ryan. She was born at Harvard Feb 21,1857. She came to Bath, Freeborn county, in 1859 where, with the exception of the time spent in the Dominican Academy in Fairbault, till the time of her marriage with John J Furlong which occurred May 25th, 1881, she resided. Previous to her marriage she taught school in district 90 Bath for eleven terms, boarding at home. She leaves a mourning husband and four children; Willie, May, Charlie and Loretta, besides a mother and three sisters.

Mrs Furlong has been true to her church duties and has always taken an interest in the welfare of her church. She has been treasurer of the Ladies' Catholic Union of St Augustine's church for the past three years, also a member of the Rosary society.
