Mitchell is the son of George W. Tate (b. in Tenn.) and Lydia Eagle Tate,( born in N.C. in 1788, died in 1830 in Kentucky).(George Tate married Lydia Eagle, daughter of William Eagle and Elizabeth Permen in Rockingham, NC.). Mitchell may have been half Cherokee Indian.

The Tate family came to Benton Co., Ark from Newton Co., Mo., between 1860 and 1869. Mitchell had a brother, Alexander, who also came to Siloam Springs, and another brother, W.C. Tate. He also had a sister, Emilia (Lancaster). Mitchell was the grandson of David Tate, born in Va

Mitchell may have been born in Ky. I have seen it listed both in Va. and in Ky. So not sure about that.

Mitchell Tate was a Minister of God and farmer. The Tate family lived on a farm near Healing Springs,the old Lee Hamilton farm.
