Laura married William Poe Hudson on April 23, 1856 in Scott County, Illinois. According to the 1900 US Census, Laura and William had nine children, six of them living in 1900. At least one child is unknown.
Laura and William are found on the 1860 US Census living adjacent to her parents in Scott County, Illinois. At that time they had two daughters, Laura, 2, and Sarah, 4 months, born in late 1859.
In 1870, they were living in Greene County, Illinois with four children; Melissa, Mary, William and John. Laura had evidently died and it is unclear if Sarah and Melissa are the same child as Melissa is shown as 11 years old in July, 1870, she was not present on the 1860 Census, but her age in 1870 would indicate her birth in 1859 and she could not have been born after Sarah in 1859.
In 1880, the family was living in Leavenworth, Kansas with children Leurisa (Melissa?), Mary, Willie, Johnnie, David and Charly.
By 1900, they settled near Oskaloosa, Kansas.
After Laura's death, William is found still in the Oskaloosa area through the 1925 Kansas Census. His date of death and burial site is yet unknown. He does not appear on Oskaloosa Cemetery records.
