Funeral services for Vanessa A. Collins-Anderson, 56, Kansas City, Mo., will be at noon Monday at Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Lawrence.
Mrs. Collins-Anderson died Monday, March 17, 2008, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo.
She was born Jan. 7, 1952, in Lawrence, the daughter of Herman and Odessa Clark Collins. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1970 and later attended Kansas University for two years.
Mrs. Collins-Anderson worked for the State of Missouri as a case manager in the Division of Family Support for 30 years. She was previously a teacher in the Head Start program and worked as a case manager for Upper Room in Kansas City, Mo. She was a staff member of the Lawrence Back to the Roots Reunion Committee and a member of the American Business Women's Association.
She married Glenn Anderson on Sept. 3, 1992, in Kansas City, Mo. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a brother, Myron Collins, Lawrence; a sister, Lisa K. Collins, Kansas City, Mo.; a sister of choice, Valeria Henderson, Oklahoma City; five nieces, Sonja and Cynthia Collins, Cyn-Terra and Ashlyn Oatis and Alona Guess; two nephews, Micheal Oatis and Dakota Collins; and nine grandchildren, Brandi, Sherri, Alexus, Diane, Derrick, Tiara and Ciara Jenkins, Robin Buckley and Sharabia Hayes.
Mrs. Collins-Anderson was preceded in death by her parents.
