Dolores Streck

Dolores Forbes Streck was born Aug. 1, 1917, and passed away Sunday, March 16, 2008. Dolores was born in Parsons, Kansas, the daughter of Mary Elizabeth (McNerney) Forbes and Patrick Joseph Forbes. She is preceded in death by husband Bill Streck and infant son John Michael, brothers William, John, Eugene, Emmit, and Charles and sisters Agnes, Anne, Ilene, and Mary Alice. She is survived by her sister Marge Brandt of Columbus, Ohio; her children William Streck and wife Karen of Cooperstown, New York; Patrick Streck of Warrensburg, Missouri; Mary Lou Welborn and husband Lindy of Wichita Falls, Texas; and Teresa Luetkemeyer and husband Tom of Oklahoma City.

She married William "Bill" Joseph Streck on Dec. 27, 1941. While Bill served overseas in World War II, Dolores worked as a long distance telephone operator. Upon Bill's return they settled in Parsons where their children were born. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1954. Dolores was an active and devout member of Christ the King Church where she was secretary from 1960 to 1968. She worked at the Archdiocesan office and Pastoral Council. After retirement, she was a Mercy Auxiliary volunteer for 20 years. Family meant the world to her. With the birth of her grandchildren, she became known as "Nana" to all. Our Nana was a woman of great faith, strength and determination.

Nana will be greatly missed by her grandchildren: Patrick and Meg Streck, Maggie and Mark Allen, Christopher and Wendy Streck, Sarah and John Ralph, Steve J. and Laura Coleman, Kate and Brian Berry, Jeffrey Streck, Katherine and Matt Dunbar, Amanda Coleman, Jay and Lee Luetkemeyer, Rachel Luetkemeyer, Meredith Luetkemeyer, Kimberly Coleman, Molly Streck and Elizabeth Luetkemeyer; and eight great-grandchildren. Many loving nieces and nephews also survive her.

Due to Holy Week Services, Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Christ the King Church in Oklahoma City. Liturgy of the Word and Christian Burial Service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Christ the King Church with entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery Chapel. Memorials may be made to Christ the King School Educational Endowment or the charity of your choice. Smith and Kernke Funeral Home, 14624 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City, is in charge of arrangements.
