He was confined at Fort McHenry, Maryland, on July 6, and sent to Fort Delaware, where he was received on July 6, 1863. He died of chronic diarrhea on April 6, 1864, as a Prisoner of War at Fort Delaware. He was buried on Jersey Shore opposite the post.
