SHERIDAN -- Joe Wayne Ebbs, 79, of Sheridan, died Monday at Baptist Medical Center at Little Rock.
He was born May 23, 1924, at Bluffton (Yell County), a son of the late Wesley Odis Ebbs and Mary Ann Hicks Ebbs.
He served in the Navy during World War II in Okinawa and Iwo Jima. He also served in the Marines. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was a retired gas station owner.
He was affiliated with the Assembly of God Church.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Vance Ebbs and Newland Ebbs.
Survivors include three sons, Danny Joe Ebbs of Carlisle (Lonoke County), Jerry Don Ebbs of Little Rock and Michael Wayne Ebbs of Benton (Saline County); two daughters, Sandy Lunsford of Sheridan and Samantha Lester of Bauxite (Saline County); one brother, Hicks Ebbs of Memphis; one sister, Hilda Mae Smith of El Dorado; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home of Sheridan with Gene Huskey, Temon Jenkins and Joe Jones officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Sheridan.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
