Floyd Chester Holly, Jr.

Funeral services for Floyd Chester Holly, Jr. will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2008 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers.

Father Cyprian Eze, Associate Pastor of Our Lady of Fatima will conduct the services.

Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park. (NOTE: located at 2111 W. Pinhook Road, Lafayette, Louisiana)

Mr. Holly, 89 of Lafayette, passed away on March 1, 2008. A native of Tioga, Louisiana, he was born on July 14, 1918 to Floyd Chester and Ilda Garnett Simpson Holly. Mr. Holly is a US Army Veteran of WWII serving his country in Europe. After the war, he graduated from Southwestern Louisiana Institute. He worked for Ziegler Dairy in Crowley, La. and the United Fruit Company in Honduras. Most of his career was in dairy milk production where he worked as a sanitarian and field inspection supervisor for Borden's in Lafayette and Lake Charles and later for Southern Milk Sales. A resident of Westlake, Louisiana for 47 years, he was an active member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church and served other community organizations including the Boy Scouts of America and was a Councilman for the City of Westlake.

Floyd's parents, brother Billy D. Holly and sister Ilda Josephine "Jo" Robertson preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marie Jeanne Fournet Holly, and their sons and wives: Jack and Linda Waterman Holly of Bahrain, David and Catherine Bering Holly of Katy, Texas, Michael and Denise Tullier Holly of Hammond, and Benjamin and Thrista Hernandez Holly of Mandeville; grandchildren, Jason Holly and wife Melissa, Sean Holly and wife Lisa, Zachary Holly, Jacob Holly, Megan Viktorin and husband Brian, Rachel Holly, Jessica Holly, Graham Holly, Martin Holly, Claire Holly, Emily Fowler and husband Jimmy, Jonathan Holly and wife Hannah, Patrick Holly and wife Mica, Kevin Holly, and Phillip Holly; great grandchildren, Gabriel, Michael, and Nathan Holly, Caroline Viktorin, and William Fowler. He is also survived by sisters, Mary Elizabeth Ducharme of Lafayette and Clara Estelle Hurst of Baton Rouge and many nieces and nephews.

The family requests visiting hours be observed on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the services.
