Mrs. Matilda Custer, wife of A. C. Custer, was born in Buchanan County, North Carolina, November 27, 1849, and died at the home of her son, Rickle Adkins, four miles north of Brocksburg on January 29, 1909.
She was a member of the Advent Christian Church at Jamison. She was converted and joined the church at Springview in July, 1888, and lived a consistent life until her death. In her last sickness she endured great suffering with Christian patience. Cancer was the cause of her death. The funeral services were conducted at the Adkins home by Rev. S. P. Caress of Springview. Interment was made in the Elm Grove Cemetery.
