• SULPHUR -- Services for Opal Payne Allen, 81, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Willard McCartney Jr. and the Rev. Edward Rowls officiating. Interment will be at East Hill Cemetery, Roff, under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.

Mrs. Allen was born June 11, 1920, at Mulligan Flats to Jody and Susie Slaughter Castleberry. She died July 2, 2001, in Sulphur.

A lifelong resident of this area, she was a homemaker and member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. She and Wilburn Payne were married on Nov. 2, 1937, in Sulphur. He died June 24, 1978. She and T.A. Allen were married on Dec. 10, 1981. He died May 6, 1989. She was also preceded by brothers, sisters and a granddaughter.

Survivors include two daughters, Mattie F. Hook, Pooleville, and Dorothy Young, Sulphur; eight sons, Joe E. Payne, Mill Creek, Warren Payne, Booneville, Ark., Gene Payne, Duncan, David Payne, Davis, and L.A., Jimmy, Lee and John Payne, all of Sulphur; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
