BARRETT ANNA F. A resident of Hayward, CA for 46 years, lost her battle with cancer on December 17, 2001. She was 85 years old. Anna ("Ann") was born on September 12, 1916, in Gering, NE. She was the only daughter of William and Mary Simonds. She fell in love and in 1937, married the love of her life, Vergel W. Barrett. In 1941, they moved to Denver, CO and a few years later, moved to California. In 1955, they settled into their final home in Hayward, CA. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and watching their family grow. In March of 1993, after more than 55 years of marriage, she lost her beloved husband, whom she affectionately called "Mr. B." Ann's love for children was demonstrated not only with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but also through her nurturing influence on numerous foster children. She continued to enjoy her garden of roses, cooking, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with helping others to learn from the bible. She leaves behind many loving memories with her family and friends. She is survived by her son, William Barrett of Fort Worth, TX; her daughter Jean Barrett of Tacoma, WA; her three sisters-in-law; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her infant son James; her parents; daughter Joanne Dias; her husband; and her two brothers John and Bill Simonds. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 28126 Harvey Avenue, Hayward, CA 94544. Arrangements handled by Jess C.
