Fonnie Breashears was a lifetime resident of Montgomery County, a sawmill worker and a member of the Story Church of God. He was a veteran of World War II and involved in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations and was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign ribbon with a bronze battle ribbon.
Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Eldiree Breashears of Story; four sons; Jack Breashears of Ravenden Springs, John Breashears of Natchez, Miss., and Tom Breashears of Story; three daughters; Pat Thompson of Lake Charles, LA, Hazel Carmack of Greenwood and Judy Cogburn of Story; two brothers: Jim Breashears of Story and Southard Breashears of Malvern; one sister Leatrice Bond of Bismark; and nineteen grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Friday, march 9, in the Story Church of God with Rev. O. D. Minton and Rev. Ronnie Noles officiating.
Pallbearers were; Jimmy Breashears, Curtis Breashears, G. A. Breashears, Paul Bond, A. J. Bond and Cleve Bond.
Burial was in the Breashears Cemetery under the direction of Thornton Funeral Service of Mount Ida.
