William Simpson Retired Traveling Salesman Dies
William Simpson, 83, a lifelong resident of this city, died at his home, 2610 Main street, Wednesday at 6:20 a. m.
A son of William and Mary Barlow Simpson, he was born here Oct 16, 1859. He married Miss Eliza Williams who preceded him in death several years ago. He was a member of Hale Memorial church, Illinois lodge, No. 263, A. F. & a. M. Peoria council No. 112, U. C. T. of A., and post E. T. P. A.
A traveling salesman, Mr. Simpson was associated with Oakford-Fahenestock Co. for 30 years. Prior to that he was with Donmeyer-Gardner Milling Co. and Jobst-Bethard Co.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Asa White of Peoria and several nieces and nephews. Three sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at the Cumerford-Endsley memorial home Friday at 1:30 p. m. in charge of Illinois lodge No. 263, A. F. & A.M. The Rev. Charles Van Dettum, former pastor of Hale Memorial church, now serving at Lewistown, Ill., will officiate, assisted by the Rev, John Bliss, retired clergyman and close friend of Mr. Simpson. Friends may call at the memorial home Thursday afternoon and evening. Burial will be in the Princeville cemetery.
