Zirkle, Wallace C. "Wally," 88, of Orange, was born on October 13, 1918, in Cheney, Kansas, passed away on June 13, 2007. He attended the University of Oklahoma and moved to California in 1939. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Ruth; sons, Philip and David; daughter, Lynne Wedaa; son-in-law, Ray Wedaa; sister, Virian Sturdevant of Virginia Beach, VA; grandsons, Paul and Mike. Viewing: Monday, June 25, 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service: Monday, June 25, 2:30 p.m. at Fairhaven Memorial Park, Santa Ana, CA. Wally arrived in the City of Orange in 1944 and owned the Firestone Tire Store and the Music Box Store located in the southeast corner of the Plaza in Old Towne. In 1950, he purchased the site at 177 N. Glassell to open "Wally's Market," his 'pride and joy' until 1961 when he went to work for the US Postal Service as a letter carrier for the next 27 years. Wally was a member of the Crystal Cathedral Church. He was a devoted husband and father, and loved traveling with the family. Wally was 'one-of-a-kind,' and will be greatly missed.
