John Wilson proved his right to land by making oath that he imported himself and 6 family members from Ireland to Philadelphia at his own cost. Oath recorded 24 July 1740. Orange Co., Va Court Order Book 2, p. 215, Library of Virginia microfilm reel 30.

My 7th Great Grandfather on my fathers side. Wow I am so honored to be your grand daughter!!! I always thought, even before I know any of my history, that military service was in our blood. Hope you would be as proud of my 7 yrs military service too.=) I love you!!!

A large sand stone monument erected by the Col. Thos Hughart Chapter D.A.R. with a metal tablet at the Glebe Burying Ground says "THIS TABLET IS DEDICATED IN HONOR OF THE REVOLUTIONARY SOLDIERS BURIED IN GLEBE CEMETERY." The 7th name down is "COL. JOHN WILSON, COLONIAL SOLDIER, AND MEMBER OF THE HOUSE OF BURGESSES FOR 27 YEARS."
