Mrs. Downey was born on Jan. 8, 1924, to Clayton and Isabelle Milstead. She had lived in the Kansas City area for her entire life. She had worked at Bendix for many years and after her retirement she married Otto Downey. Gracie loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Otto Downey, of the home; her son, John W. Butler, Independence; two grandchildren, Christine Blystone and her husband Mike, Independence, and John M. Butler, Oak Grove, Mo.; a step-son, Randy Downey and his wife DeeAnn; step-grandchild, Jennifer Skinner; two great-grandchildren, Cody and Kelsey Blystone; two step-great-grandchildren, Hayleigh and Dillon Skinner.
