Mrs. Arminda Byers, 86, Dies After Short Illness

Mrs. Arminda Byers, 86, passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 24, at the home of her youngest daughter, Mrs. Elmer Rodgers, in Esterville, Iowa, following a brief illness.

Mrs. Byers was born March 8, 1859, near Dunlap, the daughter of Dr. Thomas and Mary Yates. She was the youngest and the last remaining member of a pioneer family of 13 children. She was married to Thomas R. Byers Oct. 17, 1878.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Fred Harlan of Princeville and Mrs. John Rogers and Mrs. Elmer Rogers, both of Esterville, Iowa. Mrs. Blanche Jackson Dobbe of Manteno, Ill., and Archie McCrea of Oswego, Ill., who were reared by Mrs. Byers; nine grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Presbyterian church in Dunlap, conducted by Rev. Lee H. smith. Interment was in the Prospect cemetery.
