William Leon Cross died of a heart attack at the Greenwood Leflore Hospital on March 14th following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were held from the Winona Baptist Tabernacle Wednesday morning, March 16, at ten o'clock with the Rev. Jack Cross of Carthage officiating. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery with Oliver Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Cross, who owned and operated a grocery store here for many years, was born in Carroll County November 21, 1886. In 1908 he married Miss Delia Ferguson of the Pine Bluff Community. He was a Deacon of the Winona Baptist Tabernacle, serving as Superintendent of the Sunday School before ill health forced his retirement.

In addition to his wife, he leaves one son, L. L. Cross; one daughter, Mrs. G. G. Cross; a brother, Cleveland Cross; a sister, Mrs. Lawson Garner, all of Winona; seven grandchildren, Donald Cross, John Cross, Pamela Cross, Rose Carol Cross, Donna Kay Cross and David Cross, all of Winona, and Barry Cross of Memphis; three great-grandchildren, Rodney and Phillip Cross of Winona and Dewayne Cross of Memphis.

Pallbearers were Emil Garner and George Aldridge of Greenwood, Dennis Cross of Columbus, Donald Cross, John Cross and Barry Cross.
