Elias S. Barnhart, 87, formerly of Fairview Township, Chicora RD#3, died Sunday in the home of his son, Lawrence Barnhart, 519 Franklin Ave, Ellwood City. Born in Butler County, Dec. 15, 1866, Mr. Barnhart was the son of Joseph and Sarah Byers Barnhart.
A retired farmer, he was a lifelong resident of Butler County. Mr. Barnhart was a member of St. John's Reformed Church, Chicora. His wife, Anna E. Barnhart, died in 1949. Surviving are a son; Lawrence of Ellwood City; two sisters, Mrs. Samuel Moore of Butler, and Mrs. G.A. Truscott of Chicora; a grandson, Richard Barnhart of Ellwood City; three step-granddaughters; and 6 step-great-grandchildren.
Friends of Elias S. Barnhart who died Sunday Nov. 14, 1954, will be received at the Vensel Funeral Home, Chicora. The body will be taken then to St John's Reformed Church, Chicora, where friends will be received. Funeral services will be held at the church, with the Rev. C.L. Bash, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Chicora.
