Rev Clayton Mauldin born Limestone County, Alabama, April 5, 1827; moved with parents to Pontotoc County, Mississippi. He served for forty-six years, an itinerant Methodist minister. Married Sarah Whitaker September 5, 1859,(correction of marriage date of the Christian Advocate, marriage date, September 13, 1859 in Haywood County, Tennessee, documented Tennessee State Marriages) they had eight children. He died in Kenton, Tennessee on January 21, 1901 and is buried in Rutherford, Tennessee.
He first preached at the historical Campground Church in Pontotoc Mississippi.
His son is Dr Walker McTyeire Mauldin, he was a Dentist.
