Mr. Cobb, you were the best baseball player to ever play the game. End of debate. I'm looking forward to watching you play up there one day. Rest in peace,

Happy Birthday, Mr. Cobb. You were, are, and will always represent everything which is right with the national pastime. Thank you for the countless memories and moments, which you have and continue to provide for generations of fans, young and old. You are and will forever remain one of the most talented, fiercest and accomplished athletes of this or any generation. Your life was turbulent, but can never overshadow your success as both a player and businessman. It would have been the greatest honor to have met and worked with you. May God continue to bless and watch over you and those you love then, now, and always.RIP

I'm just reading your new biography -- "Ty Cobb, A Terrible Beauty" -- and it explains how Stumpy's book in '61,"Ty Cobb -- My Life in Baseball" was a bunch of lies and made-up quotes to spice up the story for Doubleday. And the movie based on the book swallowed the entire myth. It will take more than one book to get the truth out there, but it's a good start. Rest in peace, Ty -- you're remembered a nd still honored.

Larger than life, force of nature, soul of the game -- that was you, Ty. And 54 years after you left us, your presence remains in the records you set -- and the many you still hold.
