Scottish novelist, daughter of Helen Coutts and James Ferrier,manager of the estates of the fifth Duke of Argyll. She wrote three successful novels,all published anonymously,Marriage(1818),The Inheritance(1824) and Destiny(1831) which she dedicated to Walter Scott.
